Can I bring a backpack to the event?
No. Backpacks cannot enter the ballpark. Please leave them at home or in your car. See the full bag policy for any exceptions. 

How do I register?
Registration will open on Monday, November 8. After that date to register click on the green "Register Now" button on the event website, preventcancer5k.org. Then follow the prompts to create your account.

How much does it cost?
Adults (17+): $35.00
Teens (13-16): $20.00
Guests/Supporters: $10.00
Virtual Participant: $8.00
Kids (12 and under): FREE
Dogs: FREE

I attended last year, do I need to create a new account?
No. If you attended the event last year you can login using the account credentials you created last year. If you don't remember your password click on the "Forgot Password" button and follow the prompts to reset your account.

Can I register on-site?
On-site registration is available. Attendees must complete the registration form and pay the registration fee. Registration fees will increase by $5 for on-site registration (kids under 12 and dogs are still free!) We accept cash and all major credit cards. **On-site registrants will not receive an event t-shirt**

Can I bring a guest or supporter?
Yes. Guests and/or supporters of paid, registered attendees are required to sign up and pay a $10 registration fee by cash or card to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This fee provides access to the health fair, which includes free food, free health and wellness screenings, activities for kids and dogs and more. Guests and/or supporters will not receive an event t-shirt.

How do I create a team?
Click on the green "Register Now" button on the event website, preventcancer5k.org. Then follow the prompts to create your account. You will then select "Create a Team" and follow the prompts to create your team. 

How do I find/join a team?
Click on the green "Register Now" button on the event website, preventcancer5k.org. Then follow the prompts to create your account. You will then select "Join a Team" and search for the team name that you would like to join. 

What are your COVID-19 safety precautions? 
The safety of our participants, volunteers and staff is of the utmost importance to us. We will require all participants who are eligible to be fully vaccinated before March 13 and we will follow current guidelines in regards to masking requirements. Will I get a t-shirt?
All paid, registered participants who register by February 18, 2022 will receive a t-shirt when they check-in on the day of the event. Those who register after February 18 risk not receiving a t-shirt as supply may be limited. Guests will not receive an event t-shirt but are welcome to enjoy the Health Fair and other activities. Virtual participants will not receive an event t-shirt. 

When should I arrive and where is check-in?
Participant check-in starts at 7:45 a.m. We suggest arriving no later than 8:40 a.m. as parking may be limited. Check-in will take place at the stadium's Center Field Gate.

Is the 5k timed?
No. Participants can run/walk the course at their own pace. 

Are kids allowed to run/walk the 5k course?
Yes. There will also be a Fun Run option for kids and dogs available that features a shorter course that starts and ends in the Park and takes participants around the stadium instead of out into the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. 

Are dogs allowed on the 5k route?
Yes. If you want to bring your dog you must register them during the online registration process or on-site at check-in. All dogs must be up-to-date on their rabies and distemper vaccines and be leashed at all times. Leashes cannot have a lead that is more than 4 ft and cannot be tethered to your body while on the course. Dog owners are also responsible for picking up after their dogs and properly disposing their waste. This year there will be a designated “bathroom” location available for dogs to use while inside the stadium.

What is the schedule of events?
7:45 a.m. – Participant check-in begins
7:45 a.m. – Health Fair opens
8:30 a.m. – Awards program and warm-up
9:00 a.m. – Runners start
9:10 a.m. – Walkers start
9:15 a.m. – Fun Run starts
9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. – Enjoy the batting cages and dugouts, free health and wellness screens, kids and dog activities, food and more!

What’s included in the Health Fair?
Participants can connect with 30+ health professionals and businesses from across the DC Metro area, take part in fitness demonstrations and visit interactive exhibits. Visit our Health Fair page to see what partners have joined the event so far. (Partners are added daily so check back often!) Participants will enjoy exclusive access to the Nationals' batting cages and dugouts, enjoy the Nationals' newly renovated Jungle Gym, kids and dog activities and more!

What awards will be there this year?
Awards will be presented during the opening program to the:

What if there’s inclement weather?
This event will take place rain or shine. 

What are my transportation options?
Free parking is available at Nationals' Garage B (the corner of S. Capitol St. and N St SE) and Garage C (the corner of First St. and N. St SE). You must arrive before 8:45 a.m. for access. Parking is available until 12:00 p.m. Participants with cars in either garage after that time will need to use the security intercom system to exit. 

The nearest Metrorail station is Navy Yard-Ballpark. Exit the station and follow signs towards Nationals Park. Note: Sunday Metro operation beings at 8:00 a.m.
